Christian Kirchstaetter is voted new Technical Chair of Java Card Forum

Christian Goire, President of the Java Card Forum (JCF), has announced the appointment of Christian Kirchstaetter as head of the Technical Committee. He was elected by the members to replace the outgoing head Dr. Eric Vetillard.

Christian is a Senior System Architect at NXP Semiconductors B.V., based in Gratkorn, Austria. He joined in 2007 as a Firmware Engineer and became a Senior System Architect in 2011. In his current position at NXP he is in charge of their main Java Card product portfolio and developments. He has a clear insight into customer needs, as well as current and emerging use cases in the Secure Identity, Banking, Transportation and Mobile Transactions (e.g. Embedded Secure Elements) market segments.

Christian has a track record of more than 5 years working with Java Card technology and Global Platform standards, ensuring a solid foundation for future work.

Speaking following his appointment, Christian restated the values established by his predecessor over the past five years and pledged to continue: “I am highly motivated to further improve future consolidated Java Card technology specifications, aligned with all members of the JCF and ensure that our work is forward-thinking and relevant for the future success of Java Card.”

Bruno Basquin, head of the Business Committee commented: “The Java Card Forum welcomes Christian in his new role. We are eager, together with the technical committee experts and Christian’s guidance, to engage in the next steps of Java Card evolution and promotion.”
